We
know that virtually everyone
stops their search as soon as they find what they’re
looking for. Usually within the top
10 or 20 results. If the search is not
successful within 20 to 30 results, the search is most
often abandoned. (Surfers go to different engines or
use different keywords.)
So,
what
we do
can be put simply:
We try to get you into at least the top
30
rankings for a given search engine. The methods
we use may get you into the top 4 or 5 positions. And,
if you choose our guaranteed program, we offer a full
refund
of fees if we fail.
We don't "spamdex." Many online
search engine services work by flooding the Net with
hundreds—even thousands—of specialized webpages
centering on certain keywords. Whereas this approach
may in fact be effective in the short term, seasoned
SEO professionals observe the inherent risks.
Imagine, for instance, that you wanted
to promote a new dry-cleaning business in your neighborhood.
You might consider designing a low-cost handbill and
then plastering it over every window, street sign, and
doorpost in a ten-block area. There is no doubt that
you would be noticed—but your reputation and credibility
would suffer and, in the event you violated a law or
local code, you might ultimately pay a high cost.
In the same vein, flooding the
Net with hundreds of pages that “redirect”
traffic to your sight has been assailed or banned by
all of the major search engines. Most engines warn vendors
that such practices may result in their listings being
permanently removed. For this reason, among others,
we will not employ these practices. We believe in an
ethical and professional service since both your reputation—and
ours—is at stake.
"Cloaking" is the use of specialized
technology to feed one version of your site to the search
engines (an optimized site) and another version to the
surfer (one that is simple and attractive.) This allows
the optimizer to embed strategies in the site without
concern for esthetics. Cloaking is controversial,
however, since many of the top engines are concerned
that the technology will allow sites to feed incorrect
content to the engines in order to get top placement.
For instance, a pornography site might present itself
to the engines as a legitimate business in order to
garner traffic.
Currently we do not support this
technology, although we will take a request for this
service under careful advisement. Our philosophy is
to stay conservative
in respect to untested or controversial technologies.
We will keep our eyes on the long-range view and avoid
techniques that we think will create problems in time.
